State Bar of Arizona Wins Statewide Award for Online Tool that Connects Consumers to Lawyers Directly
PHOENIX – Dec. 5, 2018 – The State Bar of Arizona has been selected to receive the Excellence in External Affairs Award for its Find-a-Lawyer program and Excellence in Communications Award for its Daily 5 member newsletter by the Arizona Society of Association Executives (AzSAE). The awards will presented at the association’s 54th Annual Awards Gala and Celebration on Dec. 5.
The Bar’s online Find-a-Lawyer program (powered by Legal Services Link) launched earlier this year to expand the public’s access to attorneys, legal information, and legal resources. It’s an advanced digital platform that allows consumers to summarize their legal case for free and submit a request for legal services to lawyers who are registered with the service and fit their legal needs. Consumers can also select the level of fees they can afford, including pro bono if they have limited financial means. In addition, Spanish-language consumers are encouraged to use the platform as the Bar has a team that translates their case summaries and helps to facilitate the process.
Find-a-Lawyer was launched in May 2018 and has quickly become the tool consumers use to get the legal help they need. Nearly 2,500 case summaries have been submitted with more than 3,700 responses from attorneys willing to work on them.
"Find-a-Lawyer has become an incredible resource for Arizona consumers who need legal help," said John F. Phelps, State Bar CEO. "It takes the fear and mystery out of the process and leaves the consumer in charge. We’ve seen some people post their legal need and have as many as ten attorneys respond."
The Arizona Attorney Daily 5 newsletter delivers a snapshot of the day’s most compelling legal news to State Bar members’ email inboxes, Monday through Friday. Four punchy headlines and summaries, plus one “Case of the Day” provide readers an entertaining and informative way to keep up with the latest legal news.
Daily 5 has become a favorite and well-received email among State Bar members. As one reader wrote, “I think it’s terrific! It’s pithy, interesting, and gives readers a broad range of topics to hit lightly each day. Thanks!”
According to the awards program, recipients were selected based on commitment, involvement and service to the Valley’s growing nonprofit sector.
