Biography
Tyler Melling was born and raised in Texas, but he returned to his roots in Cedar City to attend Southern Utah University, where he met his wife in the Opus Chamber Choir after serving an LDS mission in Slovakia. He graduated in 2012 in Economics with a minor in music performance.
After his time at SUU, Tyler attended the University of Iowa College of Law to take advantage of their top-rated corporate law journal, estate planning courses, and vast clinical opportunities. He spent his first summer in Cedar City performing research for Judge G. Michael Westfall and his second summer enrolled in an independent study program, for which he wrote a 60-page report on the Snake Valley, Utah water proposals. Tyler’s law school experience also included a study abroad program in Arcachon, France, serving as a contributing member of the Journal of Corporation Law editorial board, and clinical experience in estate planning, foreclosures, and family law.
Tyler received his Juris Doctor with High Service Honors in December of 2014 and moved back to Cedar City to raise his family and open an estate planning and business law practice. Tyler currently participates in the Cedar City music community through the Red Rock Singers and the Christmas Messiah Chorale. He also teaches courses in Estate Planning & Probate Law, Law Office Management, and Legal Ethics & Professionalism at Southern Utah University.
