Biography
Attorney Nayef A. Mubarak is a lifelong resident of central Florida. He attended Dr. Phillips High School before going on to earn his Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Central Florida. Mr. Mubarak spent time working as a mutual fund accountant with the Bank of New York before enrolling in law school at Barry University School of Law. While at Barry, Mr. Mubarak developed an interest in international law, spending two summers studying abroad in Madrid, Spain and Florence, Italy. This opportunity enriched Mr. Mubarak's experience in the areas of international human rights and criminal procedure. Mr. Mubarak served on the law school's Moot Court Honors Board and participated in the Immigration Clinic, advocating for indigent clients in USCIS and Immigration Court proceedings.
Nayef Mubarak first joined the NeJame Law Firm while still a student, serving as a legal intern for the Criminal division. After gaining admission to Florida Bar in 2010, he spent a short time working with another law firm as an associate attorney in foreclosure defense. He returned to the NeJame Firm as an Associate with the Firm's growing Immigration division, assisting clients with family reunification, deportation, VAWA cases, asylum, naturalization, adjustment of status, and other immigration matters. Mr. Mubarak has also handled J-1 waivers based on exceptional hardship, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) petitions, and Temporary Protected Status cases for Syria, El Salvador and Haiti.
Attorney Mubarak’s practice has naturally progressed into the realm of international business and corporate law. Mr. Mubarak represents many clients with businesses throughout the world, often times consulting companies on acquisitions, company formations, business plans, treaty compliance, and the structuring of investment models. Often times, Mr. Mubarak’s immigration and business law skills are needed for his unique clientele, his background in business and finance have provided him with the necessary skill set. Attorney Mubarak currently represents foreign nationals with their Eb-5 investments as well.
Nayef Mubarak devotes much of his free time to community service. Mr. Mubarak also volunteers with mosques and churches in the central Florida region. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Arab American Community Center (AACC) in Orlando, where he strives to educate the diverse central Florida community about important immigration laws and other political issues. Attorney Mubarak is a proud advocate for immigration reform. In August of 2013, he was appointed as the Media Liaison for the Central Florida chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (www.aila.com). Mr. Mubarak has discussed the need for immigration reform through interviews and blogs, including Central Florida News 13. Attorney Mubarak also serves on the Arab-American Citizenship Advisory Board for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. He has previously volunteered his time with such organizations as Junior Achievement, and continues his involvement with the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association and the free legal clinics at his alma mater, Barry University.
In January of 2013, Mr. Mubarak was invited by the White House for a "Strategy Session with Arab-American Community Leaders." Attorney Mubarak was joined by other "Arab-American" leaders from across the country. The group of roughly 15 individuals met with Administration officials to discuss immigration reform and the concerns of Arab-Americans regarding the reform. The individuals also reviewed the President's blueprint for immigration reform, discussed possible timelines for the change to occur, and core areas of immigration law where reform must be made. It was an honor for Mr. Mubarak to attend such a meeting; specifically the opportunity to voice the concerns of those whom do not have a voice in our political system.
