Biography

Karen Gillespie graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in English as well as an Honors Management Certificate from the Kelley School of Business and earned her J.D. from the College of William & Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law. Karen’s practice focuses on nonimmigrant and immigrant business visa issues. She has experience with B, E, H, J, L, O, P, and TN nonimmigrant visas; green card cases in all employment-based categories (both PERM and EB-1 cases); and I-9 and work site compliance. Karen has experience counseling clients (including Fortune 500 companies) from several industries, including: information technology, pharmaceuticals, publishing, engineering, education, finance, and manufacturing. Her counsel includes extensive experience with corporate restructuring, payroll consolidation, mergers and acquisitions, and layoffs.

Prior to joining Meltzer Hellrung LLC, Karen worked for Global Immigration Associates, PC as a Managing Attorney.

Karen is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and works in the Chicago community as a volunteer for the Erie House Citizenship Clinic and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.
