Biography

Jim Anest, brings over 36 years legal experience to Parker Lawyers an active and licensed Colorado Attorney in the State of Colorado since 1987. Jim has been involved in the practice of law in Parker, Colorado since 1987. Previously, he was admitted to the Wyoming State Bar in 1980. Jim is a past member of the Real Estate section of the Colorado Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Jim also was the lead in the development of a Boulder, Colorado apartment project, several shopping centers, bringing one of the first Wal-Mart stores to the ski areas of Colorado, Victorian Peaks and the redevelopment of the Victorian Park area of Old Town Parker. He has been involved in all aspects of real estate legal representation including the acquisition, development and ownership formation phases for his clients. As an acquisition and development attorney, he was involved in multiple shopping center purchases and sales, apartment projects and residential/agricultural developments. The combined per-square footage of these retail, commercial and residential properties exceed one million square feet and has closed, participated in the pre-sale negotiations, contract drafting, due diligence review and research and closings that exceed $150,000,000.00. He has served as the primary lead attorney for the acquisition, financing, construction, and development of various real estate ventures, counsel for the lender entity including zoning, annexations and other issues facing developers in the acquisition and sale of individual residential properties, commercial land as well as ranch/agricultural land and distressed property sales. As part of his practice, he has been involved in entity formation for many Douglas County and Front Range businesses. These entity formations include partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies. Since 1982, Jim has also represented numerous consumers and creditors in debtor work-outs, Chapter 7 and 13 filings in Colorado and Wyoming and is a frequent participant in legal education classes in the area of real estate and bankruptcy law.

Married, three sons: Admitted Colorado State Bar (1987) and Wyoming State Bar (1980): Former county attorney, Hot Springs and Converse County, Thermopolis and Douglas, Wyoming; town attorney, Glenrock, Wyoming; Retired Municipal Judge, Elizabeth Colorado 1995-2004. Shareholder Anest Swingle & Arant , P.C., practice limited to entity formation, real estate/land use acquisition, development and bankruptcy: Former member Colorado Real Estate Section– Colorado Bar Association, District seven elected representative to the Intermountain Electric Rural Association ( IREA) board of directors, Audit Committee-IREA; Former Colorado Capital Bank and Bankwest advisory board member, Former Director – Double Angel Foundation, Designated Outstanding Lawyers of America, Named to Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers of America; 2008 Recipient PEDC Cornerstone Award; “Av” rated attorney, "Peer Review" certification Martindale-Hubbell; Madison's Who's Who.
