Biography
Attorney Andrew Thomas Hayes has 15 years of legal experience on behalf of public and private companies in numerous industries. Beginning early in his life, Andy has engaged in a number of business ventures of his own and worked in management while obtaining an undergraduate degree in business. He attended the University of Akron School of Law where he received a scholarship and won an award for his performance in the study of Contracts.
Andy’s legal skills were honed while representing ExxonMobil Corporation, Medtronic, Inc., U.S. Steel Corporation, Shell Oil Co. and others in product liability and contract litigation. Andy’s successful efforts on behalf of these companies led to his selection for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© in the field of Product Liability Litigation - Defense.
Andy subsequently accepted a position as President & General Counsel for a startup biometric software company operating internationally. In this role, Andy successfully guided the business through Bet-the-Company litigation involving critical intellectual property and a dispute over the hiring of a key employee. Andy oversaw the legal requirements applicable to the company’s fundraising efforts and participated in presentations which raised millions of dollars in capital from domestic and foreign investors. He also negotiated and drafted all sorts of agreements and other legal documents from those dealing with the company’s internal governance to international reseller and licensing agreements with foreign companies, and everything in between, while helping lead the company to be named “Emerging Business of the Year” by the regional business alliance.
Throughout his work, Andy has had the opportunity to hire, manage, consult with, attend court appearances and depositions with, edit the work product of, and review the bills of, many leading attorneys throughout the United States. Working with these experts not only sharpened Andy’s skills; they also serve as valuable resources he can call upon to assist on an as-needed basis with a wide range of client needs.
