Lansing Community College Data Breach Timeline
According to Lansing Community College’s notice of data breach, the college discovered unusual activity within its computer network on March 14, 2023. From here, they sealed the breach and attempted to discover the scope and character of the activity. Ultimately, the LCC data breach investigation revealed that an unauthorized individual had accessed the IT network as early as December 22, 2022.
The investigation continued until May 24, 2023, when LCC had reached its conclusion. Besides determining the length of the breach, the college confirmed that 757,832 people had lost their data and that the leak included names and Social Security numbers.
A little over a month later, Lansing Community College finally filed a report with the Attorney General of Maine and sent out data breach letters to the victims.
