Ascension Data Breach Compromised Social Security Numbers and Insurance Information

As of June 6, 2023, it’s become evident that Ascension experienced a severe data breach. On March 2 2023, the company became aware it had experienced a security incident with Vertex, a vendor that manages one of the company’s websites. This leak compromised various types of customer data, including personal information, Social Security numbers, and insurance details. After announcing the leak, Ascension sent out a series of letters informing affected customers of their compromised data and offering complimentary services to protect their credit and identity. Anyone who’s become a victim of this data breach should opt-in to these services and consider reaching out to an Ascension data breach lawyer.

The law firm of Console & Associates, P.C., is currently undertaking its own Ascension data breach investigation. Should the firm discover that negligence contributed to the breach, you might be able to pursue financial and emotional damages in court. Information About the Ascension Breach

On June 6, 2023, Ascension uploaded a new post with the title Texas Security Incident. This detailed how Vertex, the manager of multiple Ascension websites, had experienced its own security breach. This gave an unauthorized party access to the network, which included the data of many customers. However, the breach only impacted the websites that Vertex runs. These are:

  • Providence.net

  • Seton.net

  • DellChildrens.net

Only customers with information held on the above websites are at risk. Unfortunately, the types of data that have been compromised include highly sensitive information. The types of data lost in the leak include, but may not be limited to:

  • Name

  • Social Security number

  • Address

  • Phone number

  • Insurance information

  • Email address
